Happy hump day babes!! I get a lot of questions from you all about who takes all of my pictures and what kind of camera I use, etc… So I figured I would write a blog post for you all. Before I get into all the details of my photos I just have to share with you all how obsessed I am with this outfit from Shop Red Dress Boutique! This earth red sweater keeps you oh so warm and cozy and these distressed skinny jeans are my favorite pair of denim in my closet right now. I paired this outfit with a clutch I purchased off of Poshmark last year but I have linked a similar one from Red Dress Boutique here! I am also wearing my favorite dark brown Guess Nicolo bootie.
Okay now on to the good stuff!
1.Who takes all of your pictures? – MY MOM!! That’s right! No, she is not a professional photographer by any means. Yes, she has been snapping pictures of me since I was born so it is nothing new for her. HA. A lot of full time bloggers pay a professional photographer which is awesome but why not save money and enjoy a mom/daughter day date every once in awhile, am I right!?
3. How do you edit your photos? – So just like my mom is no professional photographer, I am no professional editor. I have tried photoshop and lightroom and it is all just too much work and confusing for me. So, I decided to stick to simple editing apps on my phone, the main one I use is called VSCO. This app has multiple FREE presets as well as other presets you can purchase, as well as a large variety of editing tools. I haven’t bought many presets and the main 3 ones I use are free (A4, A5, & A6). After picking a color preset I like based on the photo I am editing I will then use the editing tools. I usually use multiple editing tools depending on the photo whether it needs to be lightened or darkened but one of the main editing tools I always use is sharpen because I like my photos to look sharp and crisp.
I placed two before & after photos side by side at the end of the picture list in this blog post so that you can see the difference. Both photos on the left are raw straight from the camera photos and then the pictures on the right are how I edited them. I hope this short blog posts was informative and helped answer some of you alls questions! Like I said I am no professional photographer or photo editor but this is the basic way I shoot and edit all of my photos. If you all are looking for some professional photographers in the Carolina’s I’ll list a few of my favorites that I have worked with personally here!
There’s no better motivation to get into the gym than a new workout outfit and I am obsessed with this one! On that note – let’s talk about new 2018 goals on health and wellness. For the most part I am a very athletic and energetic person but the past few months have been extremely tough for me lately. The motivation part is probably the hardest for me because I have been doing nothing but making a lot of excuses lately. First let me give you a little background info. My husband, Robert, played soccer, football and baseball all growing up and eventually went on to play baseball in college and is now a full time SWAT officer for our county police department. Therefore, he is also a very active and athletic person! With his job he receives a free gym membership which is great so we only had to pay for mine. I had a three year membership at MUV fitness (aka Golds Gym) that recently expired in November and due to the fact we have been job searching in Florida, in hopes to move soon, I didn’t renew my membership. Needless to say that has been the worse decision I’ve made in a long time.
Not renewing and not going to the gym the past few months has affected me a lot lately mentally. I know it is one of the most redundant new years resolutions out there but it’s never too late to start! I need to get back into the gym and back into a routine not only to help me physically but more so mentally! I need some of those good endorphins in my life again! That being sad, I am so incredibly thankful for my genes and all of your amazing compliments about my body but everyone has their struggles and maintaining my muscle tone has always been a difficult one for me. I just recently started lifting heavier weights about 2-3 years ago and I love it – no more chicken legs! I love the way my body looks when I commit to working out at least a minimum of 3 days a week. A few months into gradually lifting heavier, especially after leg day, I started getting severe back pains and decided to go to the doctor. Long story short, my very last vertebrae never fully formed as a child and it now has a crack in it right where my nerve feeds through which is why I was feeling so much pressure and pain. Overall I just can’t go heavy on squats or leg press or deadlifts which is fine – it could be way worse!
However, starting next week I am pushing myself and focusing on working out at least 3-4 times a week again. I am not joining the gym again due to the waiting process of possibly moving to another state but I will be going to a bootcamp class MWF every morning with my grandma. Yes, that’s right, I said my grandma – she is such a trooper and legit works out just as good as me! She can’t lift the heavy weights or run as long as I do but she has the drive, endurance and stamina and motivates me like no other! We both took this class months ago and the instructor had to stop due to work but he is back and bringing the class back and we are both so beyond excited. I also want to start eating better (if you know me you know I can eat like a 6 year old boy and be totally content). I have a huge sweet tooth and yes I LOVE carbs… shoot me. I have never had to have a strict diet and I am thankful for that but personally I want to because I do feel better and more energetic when I have a healthier diet. It will be hard and I will gradually do it slow and steady – not drastically cutting out sugar, bread and red meat from my diet because let’s be honest that’s just not realistic and a little extreme for my lifestyle. My husband did that two months before we met and he was the leanest he has ever been (he never lets me hear the end of it that I’m the reason he’s not 175 lbs anymore haha oops).
Anyway, the first thing I did was pickup some new amazing workout attire to get me ready for a familiar yet new goal I’ve set for myself. I snagged this adorable two piece palm print workout set for under $40 and this graphic pink workout bag could not describe my life any better! I could go on about this topic forever but I’ll save you from reading a book! Feel free to comment or message me with any questions you have or if you just need a little self motivation inspiration. I hope you all enjoyed this post and have a great and safe weekend ahead!
I love this blush velvet maxi dress for any holiday event you may have! Now that Christmas and New Years are over it would be perfect for any January or February wedding you may have to go to. Also, how perfect would this be for Valentines day!? It also comes in one other color – black and it’s safe to say I’m obsessed with this gorgeous dress. I paired this dress with all gold accessories from the shoes to the jewelry.
I’ve had a lot of DM’s on instagram lately asking for me to do a blog post on what I would wear to a wedding. Granted there are a lot of different factors when it comes to deciding what to wear to a wedding. Such as the location, the date/season, the dress attire, etc… For the most part, whether the wedding is inside or outside, the attire is usually formal. Since we are now entering January 2018 I figured I would choose dresses mostly for the cold weather. I selected dresses with darker, winter like colors and materials such as velvet or satin. I also tried to keep them reasonably priced considering you probably won’t wear the dress more than a few times. I am also a huge fan of jumpsuits for events, especially weddings, because they’re easy and comfortable.
I’ve attached some of my favorite wedding options below and I hope you all enjoy them! I love bringing you all an easier way to shop!
